Back to school time is quickly approaching for those of us in many areas of Canada. As our summer break is nearing an end, thinking about classroom setup, curriculum, special activities, and resources become common for many of us. I think there are some places in the US that are still on summer break and experiencing the same thing. There are sales everywhere and ads promoting back to school supplies, clothing, and gear.
Many teachers that I have been meeting through blogging are also preparing materials for back to school. There are a couple of special blog giveaways that I would like to highlight here today.
Kristy over at 2 Peas and a Dog is having a celebration for her birthday, her blogversary, and back to school. Hop on over to her blog to check out the giveaways. There is something for everyone. Each day a different grade level is featured. You can enter throughout the week.
Are you ready?
We could hardly wait to end our Diggin’ Series with the BEST giveaway of the season!

I am so excited to announce that I am joining forces with some of my favorite bloggers to bring you a new collaborative blog called Teacher Deals and Dollar Steals! With this blog, there will be approximately forty teachers sharing their excellent work in what we are calling a Dollar Steal!
What is a Dollar Steal, you ask? Each day, one of my bloggy friends will be sharing a post about one of their products. In their blog post, they will share a link to their product where you can purchase it for only $1.00. Now here's the catch, you'll have to act fast because their sale will only last for THREE days. After the three days, you can still grab their fabulous product, but it will be at it's original price.
I would love for you to hop over by clicking the button above and follow our new blog through email or Bloglovin in order to ensure that you catch all of our deals in a timely manner. We are also giving away a $25 TeachersPayTeachers Gift Certificate. You can enter by following us!!!
Thank you for joining me on this new and exciting experience.
Getting ready for a new year is always an exciting time for me. Feeling refreshed after a few weeks of sun and relaxation helps give me some motivation and energy to begin planning and preparing.
I haven't really focused on doing classroom themes much in the past, although I have chosen different themes for my welcome bulletin boards or for my first lessons. This year I decided to continue with the color theme that I began last year. I have created some alphabet bunting and some number circles for my bulletin boards. Here are a couple of pictures of my welcome back bunting and the number circles that I made.
I also made some name plates with the same theme and some new number plates for assigning numbers to my students.
Here are some pictures from my class last year. I started to coordinate things and I chose the color bule as my main color. I also assigned numbers to my students and gave them work baskets and bins with their numbers on them. Notice that my guided reading bins are also blue.
I found these great boxes last year and I stored all my different games and themed materials in them. The kids loved getting to sit on them during carpet time. I had 12 boxes and 24 kids, so we alternated odd and even numbers each day to make it easy to remember who got to sit on them.
Unfortunately, some of my grade 3s were too heavy and the particle board in the lids started to break. The boxes still work, but the lids don't work well, so I have moved them under the computer carts and we are back to sitting on the floor.
Well, this is the final week of our blogging about next year. I have enjoyed joining up with all of these wonderful people to bring you some glimpses into our year and what we hope to be doing. Make sure to keep watching as next week we are going to have an incredible giveaway for you. If you want to see more and look at the prizes we have coming, click on the image above and head over to Laura's blog. She has the scoop there for you.
