I had a fantastic opportunity on Monday to travel to Coquitlam and meet up with 5 other teacher bloggers for our first everBC Bloggers Meet Up. I had been reading about all the meet ups going on in USA and I kept wishing we could do one too. Then I received a message from Susanna from Whimsy Workshop about the plans for a meet up in BC. I was all over it. I am so glad I was able to go. I met some wonderful teachers and I have some great new friends.
I finally have my classroom done and ready for my students to arrive on Tuesday. I am so excited about the way it turned out. It is amazing what a little paint and organization can do in a room. Here are a couple of pictures of before and after.
Wednesday and Thursday were Professional Development Days in our district. We met as a staff to work on a new way of communicating student learning and reporting to parents. This was a steep learning curve for some and we are not sure what it will really look like until we actually start using it, but we had some good conversations and meetings in grade groupings to discuss what it might look like and how we were going to proceed.
After being away most of the summer, I have finally found time to start working on some of the ideas that have been bouncing around inside my head. I have been focusing on the idea of positive self esteem and how I am going to tie that into my lessons the first few weeks of school. I have started working on some products that will be ready soon. If you check out number 5 you will get a sneak peek at where I might be headed.
Here is a certificate I made for my fan freebie page. If you click on it, you can go over and grab it for yourself. It is part of a package I am creating for my self esteem unit.
